As part of the new data protection legislation coming into force on 25th May 2018 we have taken steps to update our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy to comply with the new legislation, known as General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR for short. This new directive from the UK Government comes into force on 25th May 2018.
What is GDPR?
We store information about subscribers we are classed as a data controller collecting this information from online forms and newsletter subscriptions. The data is then stored electronically on web servers and is then processed by the SpottingLog team or our partner companies.
All companies and organisations, like ourselves, have greater responsibility of the data that they obtain and store for legitimate reasons relating to the business area, in our case aviation and aircraft spotting. All data must be obtained willingly, fairly and with consent, the data must also be stored confidentially and securely.
We comply with these standards already by being transparent about the information we request and for what reasons and give you the opportunity to opt in or opt out when required.
What have we done to become GDPR compliant?
Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy are now fully up to date and compliant with the new legislation, we have implemented a new cookie policy bar to alert new visitors that we use cookies and all data captured is now detailed within the Privacy Policy. We have also updated the signup process to ensure this part of the software is also GDPR compliant.
Over the coming weeks we will be contacting all subscribers to ensure they are happy to receive marketing emails from us and removing any subscribers who request it.
